(Frank Messa)

Null and Void
by D. K. Sterling

Where did I
last spend myself?
I can't seem to find
the spare change of me
lying around anywhere.

My piggy bank of need
has cracked
the smooth porcelain
open;
exposing my insides
I find the surface of things
is no longer enough
to sustain.

Fill me up
I am bankrupt,
from the strain
of disbursement--
expending my senses,
constantly
shelling me out...

no longer
can I give account
of my whereabouts,
only endless hours
withdrawn
and paid in full.
